Testimonials

Charlene Keogh produces a “wow factor” while solving space limitations with unique, innovative design. The outcomes have been impressive and I continue to receive numerous comments from friends and neighbors. Some have even repeatedly brought others to see the end results!

Charlene is a true designer; she sees the big picture and transforms spaces while honoring client preferences.

Two projects:
• First my small “V” shaped back yard, difficult in itself. I needed to turn this odd space into an asset for my home instead of a detriment. I now have privacy, built-in planters, and multiple deck levels, which accommodate both eating and entertaining.
• Her most recent project for me is a reconfiguration of my kitchen. Charlene kept my existing top cabinets and had all new built-in bottom cabinets installed. This allowed for additional storage space and better, more functional, appliance placement. She completed this project with beautiful finishes including granite from India, glass tile, and unique lighting, including hidden outlets.

We are renovating a 100-year-old guest cottage on our country property. Charlene sees space in an interesting way that is also practical. As we uncover the ‘bones’ of the house, she adapts her overall view to fit the features of this old building. Moreover, she is easy to work with, has a good sense of humor, as well of course, of style.

We’ve worked with Charlene on several projects over the past decade, most recently a complete renovation of our master bedroom and bath along with addressing other areas of the apartment. We’re still impressed at the way she sees space in an interesting and practical way. She solves design problems while always creating something elegant and livable. Value-add: she always follows through. Nothing falls through the cracks, and if anything during construction goes awry, she works until it is put right. A true professional.

My husband and I have had a working relationship with Charlene Keogh for over twenty years. For the first fifteen she was a client of ours. We owned a custom furniture company and Charlene ordered many pieces of wood and upholstered furniture for her clients and even a few pieces for her own home. Her designs, standards and critical eye were always impeccable. Ten years ago when we bought our apartment in Manhattan we selected Charlene as the interior designer. She creatively turned a beautiful apartment into a wonder. It is tasteful and elegant, but most of all, she met our criterion. As clients well immersed in the furniture and interiors industry, we have knowledge and definite opinions regarding what we like and do not like. The three of us worked together brilliantly to create the interiors. The results are a friendly and beautiful apartment that flows and works for us. Many of our guests have all said the same thing “This apartment is so beautiful, why would you ever want to leave in the morning?” The next challenge for Charlene occurred when we purchased the adjacent apartment and decided to join them. Charlene worked creatively to achieve our goal. The apartment is now complete and we are very pleased with the results. She integrated the apartments with finesse and listened to our wishes and made them real. Even when unexpected situations arose, she thought clearly and came up with good solutions. The apartment more than exceeds our expectations and she still adds artistic touches whenever she comes by. Her manner and attitude even when faced with difficult moments with the contractors and the owner are always cheery and cooperative. It has been a pleasure to deal with Charlene both as a client and a designer. Very truly yours,

I met Charlene several years ago on a recommendation from my contractor. I was preparing to embark on a complete renovation of my bathroom in my Manhattan apartment which was then followed by a complete renovation of my kitchen. I could tell right from the start that Charlene had my best interests at heart. She spent time getting to know me and listened to what I wanted and needed. She came up with an elegant yet functional design that reflected my taste and needs and cleverly maximized storage, but then elevated that design to a higher level with her eye for detail. Her approach is definitely not cookie cutter. At times when I was not sure of a choice, she spent time discussing it with me and guided me to the right decision. I knew her vast experience would lead me to the end result that I wanted. She kept projects moving forward on a timely basis and on budget all the while keeping me in the loop. Any anxiety I had at the beginning of the project was quickly put to rest as she regularly spoke with my contractor and often appeared on site to check on progress. I could not imagine doing either project without her expertise and caring, supportive manner.

My wife and I were first time home builders. We wanted our Hampton’s house to be beautiful and practical for our two active boys and our busy entertaining schedule. We asked Keogh Design to work together with us and the contractor on the project. This was the best decision we could have made! She was able to manage the contractor and protect us from our own uninformed bad decisions. Our project was streamlined and less stressful with Charlene walking us through it, step by step. In addition, she worked with us to define the lifestyle we wanted in our new home. Charlene has such a sophisticated design sense and her choice of colors made every room special. Her seemingly limitless knowledge of new products from fabrics and finishes to hardware helped us narrow our choices to best suit us. I don’t know what we would have done without Keogh Design. We are so happy with the way things turned out, I will never do another project without Charlene!

Charlene is an outstanding designer who is also extremely easy to work with. She quickly came to understand our likes and dislikes and sourced furniture and fabric to suit them, while also encouraging us to look at fabric and furniture we might not have otherwise considered. When we had ideas for furniture that could not be found ready-made, she called on her extensive contacts to have the furniture made to order. She designed and oversaw several construction projects in the apartment with a keen eye for detail and ensured that the work was of the highest quality. She is thoughtful, efficient, and has a wonderful eye. I trust her completely and am extremely happy with the results of her work on our apartment.
